2025 Land Development Code Update
As it does every year, the Planning Department is preparing a Land Development Code Update to be presented for approval in the first quarter of 2025.

In past years NFABSD has focused on providing feedback on the Planning Department's proposed amendments. To get ahead of the process this year, we submitted 26 code proposals, which focus on the following topic areas:
Transit-Oriented Development – 2 proposed amendments to ensure that Sustainable Development Areas (SDAs) fulfill goals of transit-oriented development. 2 proposed amendments clarifying that the TPA should be interpreted as one-half mile walking distance to existing or planned transit in a transit improvement program.

Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) – 9 proposed amendments focused on objective design standards, fire safety, and appropriate densities for accessory dwelling unit projects. 1 proposed amendment to ensure JADU owner occupancy requirements conform to state law.

Complete Communities Housing Solutions (CCHS) – 9 proposed amendments focused on ensuring that CCHS projects are appropriately scaled to the communities in which they are located and provide meaningful affordable housing.
Short Term (Vacation) Rentals (STR) – 3 proposed amendments focused on eliminating loopholes in current regulations and ensuring preservation of existing rental stock for long term renters.
